Nashville International Airport’s (BNA) ‘Striking a Cord with Promotion Guitars’ initiative earned them top prize for Promotional Items at the 2016 ACI-NA awards. As a gift to airlines at inaugural flight celebrations, BNA designed Epiphone PR-150 Acoustic Guitars featuring the Nashville skyline with the air service partner’s logo, the new service destination, and its start date.

Shannon Sumrall, Corporate Communications Manager at Metropolitan Nashville Airport Authority, says the guitars were meant to show appreciation to the airlines for making an investment in Nashville, and as a way to leave a lasting impression of BNA.
As airports continually campaign for increased air service at their facility, it is important to not get “lost in the shuffle”. As they did with the guitar project, Sumrall says it’s important to know how to showcase your city and airport identity.
BNA is unique from many airports because they have a very defined brand. Nashville has its own brand as “Music City”, so BNA works to make the airport a reflection of that brand.
Sumrall’s advises, “If your strength is your brand, use it as much as you can.”
